Here is a quick recap from part 1 – it was winter but we went to see the fluffy little lambs, which made it feel like spring, despite it being very, very cold!
As you may have gathered, it was a cold day, but cold weather doesn’t stop small children wanting to go the funfair at Wroxham Barns! However, snow and ice can stop them actually getting on everything. The staff had done a sterling job clearing most of the snow and the Quad bikes were the only ride-on rides unavailable. The frost meant any of the water-based amusements were off limits too.
So, what did two young children want to ride at Wroxham Barns funfair?
Well, the train is always first on their agenda and on this wintry day it was no different. So, one of the attendants had to leave the warmth of the ticket shack to operate the rails while the kids rang the train’s bells and whooped and laughed all the way around the track!
Next up was the pirate ships for the little one, and the Orbiters for the older one (this division of rides was due to size and maturity. The little one was too small for the Orbiters and the eldest one decided he was too old for the pirate ships)
So, as one child spun round in circles laughing (he’s always laughing!) another was pretending he was Jake and the Neverland Pirates and shouting “ahoy!”, and chirping for Peter Pan to help him chop up Captain Hook. Methinks we might’ve over-done the trips to Disney!
The Tractors are always a good bit of fun for kids. Here they can race around the circuit against each other, and the island is a good place to stand and take action photos!
We didn’t play on the mini-golf, but as you can see from the picture below it looks great fun.
Finally we moved on to the arcades. Lots of traditional arcade machines suitable for young and old alike. One of my favourite is the horse racing game; if you like this too make sure you have a few 2 pence coins with you.
Wroxham Barns proved to be a great fun day out for all the family! On the way home we drove past a few other places of interest. To start with we drove towards Hoveton Hall Gardens, then turned towards Hoveton and drove through Wroxham. Next we went off the main road past Woodfordes Brewery and Fairhaven Woodland & Water Garden. This detour meant we headed out towards Acle, but the extra mileage ensured the kids had a good sleep in the car on the way home!
We have some more photos on the Norfolk Places Facebook page.
