The local football season had recently finished, so we had our weekends back! To be honest, the most sporting and junior member of the team was already in an enforced break from sport due to a double wrist fracture, but being the good team-players we are, we have been going along to support his teammates anyway.
It was Sunday on a long May Bank Holiday weekend and the aforementioned “junior” was hankering to spend the day on the X-Box, so we decided to get him out of the house. There was no outdoor sport (at least of interest to him) to watch, and there are not too many things a teenager wants to do with his parents. However, there happens to be one thing he loves almost as much as sport. Cars!
So, we jumped in the NorfolkPlacesmobile (the Batmobile wasn’t available) to Earsham, near Bungay, where the Bungay branch of the Lions (a nationwide organisation of community volunteers) were hosting a Classic Vehicle Rally & Country Fair in a field at Earsham Hall.  For the pedantic amongst you, we know Bungay is in Suffolk, but NorfolkPlaces has always looked just beyond Norfolk’s borders to our neighbouring counties to promote the wider East Anglia area.
There was perhaps 300-400 classic vehicles (cars, motorbikes, tractors, military vehicles, even a few trucks) on display, plus children’s entertainment, musical performances, and food/drink, craft & trade stalls. Our focus was very much on the vehicles (though the giant inflatable tractor would’ve been tempting to our teen 10 years ago!), so that will be the focus of our photo gallery. There are also a few more on our Instagram page.
Of course, being a snap-happy photographer I managed to clock up 200+ photos, capturing the majority of the vehicles. This would be too much to put on here, so I’ve whittled it down, combining a few photos to include as many as possible. Anyway, enough from me. Here’s some photos!

As you can see from our photos, there certainly is a wide array of vehicles on display, including cars over 100 years old to modern classics. We felt like a giddy kid with some pocket money to spend in a candy shop!

One for the Morris Minor fans, above. Gull-wings at the ready, below!

The show combines “wow” vehicles, such as American muscle cars such as the Pontiac Firebird and Trans Am above, plus modern supercars (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porshe0), stunning vintage cars including an Austin A7, Morgan, and a Jaguar E-Type, topped with pure nostalgia in shape of 70s and 80s legends like the Capri, Escort, a DMC DeLorean, and even a Post Office Morris Ital van! I haven’t seen a TR7 for years, so it was great to see one again, especially alongside other Triumph cars.
Hopefully our photos capture the essence of the show and the range of stunning vehicles present. It wasn’t all about the vehicles at the show. There was plenty of craft stalls and some lovely smelling food on sale too, (plus the entertainment. But for us, being fans of classic motors, we were in car heaven! My personal favourite? That’s a tough one as there was so many to choose from, but I probably spent the most time looking at a Ford GT40, so that wins it for me.
