All the relevant Christmas and New Year bin collection times across Norfolk.
But first, a cautionary tale, of sorts.
You hear the screech of the the dustbin lorry as it turns in to your street. You’re tucked up nice and warm, still dreaming of sugar plums and perhaps, just perhaps, you had one too many mulled wines. Then it dawns on you. Peace turns to sheer panic… It’s dustbin collection day!
The bank holidays over the festive period have thrown you out of routine like crazy. You quickly throw on your dressing gown, furtively look out the window as you dash by, briefly spying on your neighbours to see who has remembered. At least you can chuckle at Mr. Jones who is dragging his bin to the kerb whilst hoping no-one sees he’s wearing new matching tartan pyjamas!
Creeping down the stairs as quickly and as quietly as you can so you don’t wake anyone, you calculate in your head whether there’s space in the bin if you miss it and have to wait another two weeks. There isn’t. You quicken your pace.
Out of the corner of your eye you see the distinctive chassis. They’re here!
Must. Fetch. Green bin.
“Morning! Merry Christmas! Forgot to put it out?” yells Mr. Jones smugly pretending he had remembered.
“Happy Christmas!” you chirp back. “Nice Pee Jays, Simon.”
Mr. Jones disappears.
THAD-UMP. Your bin is in position just as the waste disposal expert arrives. He nods, casting a knowing grin in your direction.
“Happy Christmas,” you offer, sensing rouge glowing on your cheeks. An unwelcome and concerning breeze under your dressing gown raises internal questions about the state of your under garments and you hasten inside and contemplate whether to return to your imprint on the memory foam mattress.
“Oh damn,” you mutter as an unpleasant thought enters your brain. No, it’s not the thought Mr. Jones in his PJs. Well, now you’re thinking about Jones’ Christmas PJs, but the first thought is an absolute kicker. “I forgot to put the compost bin out!”
