Our Ten Tips For Recycling This Christmas

🎅  In the majority of cases, wrapping paper can go in your recycling bins (check local information to confirm)

🎅  recycling wrapping paper, remove tape (unless you use plastic-free paper tape)

🎅  Reduce the amount of wrapping paper used – use reusable packing (cloth or bags), or once gifts are unwrapped check if the paper is in good enough condition to reuse for another gift

🎅  When ordering gifts on-line, check to see if there is additional/less packaging options

🎅  Things like bows and ribbons can’t be recycled, but they can be reused next year

🎅  Make an agreement with family to keep cards from each other and then hand them back after Christmas for reuse the following year.

🎅  Reuse other Christmas cards by cutting them up and using as gift labels

🎅  To cut back on food waste, if you’ve got lots of visitors over for Christmas, make a pot of tea instead of making individual cuppas, saving on teabag waste

🎅  Many Christmas toys include batteries, so remember to recycle them when they run out (many councils offer kerbside collection)

🎅  Watch out for rogue companies claiming to collect rubbish/recycling. No matter how tempting, the likelihood is they are unlicensed and could dump it illegally

And the tree?

Well, your Christmas trees can be recycled/reused too.

🌲 Real trees: – You can cut up in to small pieces and put it in your garden waste bin, or in most areas of Norfolk you can take your Christmas tree to the council recycling centre. Of course, if it has survived the Christmas period and has got good roots, you could plant it in your garden and reuse as an outdoor Christmas tree.

🎄 Artificial trees:- These can be taken to recycling centres too – check locally for correct disposal and recycling. If your fake tree is still in good condition, you could donate it to local charities or to a Reuse Shop at the recycling centre. If donating to a charity it is best to check with the charity first if they take them and how their method of donation.
